Every bride wants to look and feel amazing on her wedding day. Whether you’re looking for a few subtle enhancements or a head-to-toe transformation, Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists & Cape Fear Aesthetics MedSpa has options that will have you looking your best on your big day.

What we hear from brides time and time again is that they want to feel that their wedding dress flatters their body and breasts. They want to feel gorgeous and confident for their bachelorette party, their wedding, and their honeymoon (*ahem*…check out Thermiva). With all eyes on the bride and so many candid pictures being taken, why wouldn’t the bride want to look exceptional from all angles? Paying extra attention to appearances is common at weddings because photos and memories from the big day will be cherished and shared for many years to come. The face and the hands are also focused on, so enhancements in these areas are frequently requested as well. Also, brides and other members of a wedding party often schedule appointments at the same time to get touchups on fillers and wrinkle relaxers.

If you are thinking, “Wait, I’m getting married but I’m under 30! Aren’t I too young to get plastic surgery?” Most procedures can be performed after age 18, and there is not really an age limit for plastic surgery. The patient’s maturity in decision making is always considered — you should do plastic surgery for the right reasons. Otherwise, there is nothing stopping you from choosing to make a change. That said, plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures can create results that last well beyond your actual wedding. Plastic surgery should be about more than one day. If you want to look great for your wedding pictures, there’s no harm in that. However, non-surgical procedures are designed to create more subtle effects and involve less downtime, so these are worth considering if you are still on the fence about a cosmetic procedure, or if you’re short on time.

Should you get plastic surgery before your wedding? If you’re looking for the boost of confidence and self-esteem that comes from inhabiting the body you want, then making a more long-term change with plastic surgery makes more sense. If you have an event coming up that you want to look your best for, you should be clear about that with your surgeon so he or she can advise you on the timeline. When it comes to plastic surgery, there are a couple of important considerations to keep in mind when it comes to timing:

Recovery: Any kind of surgery is going to slow you down for at least a few days—if not a few weeks. Your activitywill be limited as you recuperate. That’s normal! It’s part of the process, but this is why it’s important to plan any plastic surgery procedure with plenty of time to heal before saying, “I do”. Details about recovery time and care willbe discussed with you during your consultation.

The Fit: Everything from the tuxes to the wedding dresses are tailored to the occasion. This means that the fit is decided well before your actual wedding day. Plastic surgery, on the other hand, can make drastic changes to your body. This means that the perfect fit you achieved earlier might have to be revisited if you have a breast or body procedure.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure which procedure you want! Patients who come to consultation appointments are more likely to point out the area of concern, rather than request a specific procedure by name. During your visit, our doctors and medical staff can describe your options in detail to help choose appropriate procedures for the look you want.

If you are looking for something that gives quick results without much downtime, the new world of aesthetic enhancements may be for you. With more options becoming available as medical advancements are made (especially options that become increasingly safer and promise minimal downtime), more people are opting to get work done.

We  now live in a world where vaginal rejuvenation can take place over your lunch hour and where excess tummy fat can be moved to enhance the butt. Even a nose job can be done in five minutes flat. Take a look at the 6 instant beauty treatments below to learn about the latest and greatest of these procedures!

Instant Nose Job: The liquid nose job (five-minute nose job), is a non-surgical rhinoplasty. The process involves using FDA-approved injectable fillers — to re-sculpt the nose. The liquid nose job is best for patients who want small changes, like a more defined bridge or tip.

Instant Face Lift: Silhouette InstaLift is an FDA cleared, non-surgical face lift that is done with local anesthesia and requires no incisions. For men and women who want to look as young as they feel, InstaLift is an option that allows noticeable change to be seen immediately and without recovery time.

Instant Butt Lift: Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL) involve two steps. First, your plastic surgeon removes fat from one area on your body, such as your stomach or lower back, via liposuction. That fat is then repurposed by getting injected into your buttocks. This results in a noticeably slimmer, but curvier, physique.

Instant Feminine Rejuvenation: ThermiVA is the first of its kind in that it treats a wide range of issues that women can experience, including vaginal laxity, vaginal dryness, leaking when you laugh or sneeze, and loss of desire — all with no downtime. The procedure is sold as a package of three treatments. Can also be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma therapy The O-Shot for even greater results!

Instant Double Chin Eraser: Kybella noticeably melts away fat under your chin (“double chin”).  Unlike the surgical alternative, the injections only take a couple of minutes and there is no downtime. In other words, patients can just go on with their days post-appointment.

Instant Breast Lift: ThermiBreast helps to restore the strength of the breast tissues to provide a non-surgical breast lift of up to 1-2 inches. ThermiBreast is a non-surgical, no-scar breast lift alternative which combines radio frequency tech with artistic and strategic methods that lift and tighten breasts.

dermaplaning facial fayetteville north carolina skincare fayetteville plastic surgery specialists cape fear aesthetics medspa

The holiday season is coming up! Looking your best this time of year can help you feel confident at holiday get-togethers and ready for photos.
Facial Dermaplaning is now available at Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists & Cape Fear Aesthetics MedSpa! Read on to see why Dermaplaning is the perfect addition to your holiday skincare regimen:

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a small scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells to reveal silkier skin, a brighter complexion, and a more radiant glow. This treatment allows for greater penetration of skincare products and eliminates peach fuzz, creating a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly.
Results are visible immediately after treatment (which makes this a great pre-party facial!). Dermaplaning triggers the cell regeneration process, which can improve the appearance of facial scars and hyperpigmentation. Dermaplaning can help prepare skin for other facial procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels.

Dermaplaning is recommended for men and women of all skin types.
If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.
Dermaplaning is also safe and effective for pregnant and nursing women. There are no harsh chemicals involved.

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure and can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs.
First, the aesthetician will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, she’ll pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a sterile blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

About 30-45 minutes

There is zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be sensitive to sun exposure and may look pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

You will immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. As an added bonus, all of your peach fuzz will be gone!

Dermaplaning removes about a month’s worth of dead skin cells. This treatment is best done once per month with time to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.

Dermaplaning should be administered by a board certified nurse practitioner or licensed aesthetician who specializes in this procedure.

Wondering whether you should try Dermaplaning versus Microdermabrasion?

They are both forms of physical exfoliation, but the methods are very different. Microdermabrasion sands and suctions dead skin cells, which also helps to uproot clogged pores around the nose, mouth and chin. Dermaplaning safely scrapes off the top layer of skin, so it is well suited for drier skin types and anyone who wants to get rid of peach fuzz. Your provider can help you decide which treatment is best suited for your concerns.

6 Ways to Tame Your Turkey Neck

Tis the Season for Cosmetic Surgery

The first, and most important step in maintaining a healthy and youthful complexion long into the future is proper skincare! No matter your age, it’s important to take preventative measures to avoid the formation of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and other signs of aging. Adding products and treatments with high concentrations of Vitamin C into your skincare regimen can help your skin look younger for longer by evening out skin tone, brightening your complexion, and stimulating collagen production.

The benefits of topical Vitamin C don’t end there! Take a look at the top 7 reasons to love Vitamin C below:

Creates Brighter, Healthier Skin

Vitamin C improves your skin’s overall complexion, and brightens to bring a healthier and more vibrant glow. Strong concentrations of this vitamin leave the skin looking and feeling replenished and revitalized.

Promotes Collagen Production

The regular use of vitamin C can combat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because of concentrated levels of antioxidants present. These antioxidants help boost collagen production to naturally fill in fine lines and wrinkles.

Reduces Skin Discoloration

Vitamin C is great for reducing embarrassing redness and can help you achieve a more uniform skin tone and better complexion.

Speeds Up Healing

High levels of Vitamin C can help speed up the body’s natural healing processes. This makes it ideal for use on the face to heal small cuts, acne scars, blemishes, and even sunburn more quickly and effectively.

Protects Skin from Sun Damage

In addition to its anti-aging benefits, topical vitamin C is also great for protecting your skin from damage—especially from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. When used together with sunscreen, it can do wonders for your skin because vitamin C is an antioxidant (it naturally helps to strengthen your skin and repel things that could damage it).

Reduces Under-Eye Circles

Tired of trying to conceal the dark circles under your eyes? Vitamin C gives under-eye skin a more youthful, bright, and vibrant appearance.

Improves Hydration and Moisture

If you suffer from dry skin, vitamin C is a must. With topical vitamin C treatments, you can enjoy the high concentration of vitamins that your skin needs to improve moisture content and overall hydration.

Even if you take a daily multivitamin, some nutrients like vitamin C, are best absorbed by the skin through topical application. The products used to treat the skin must be formulated with high enough concentrations of nutrients and be applied regularly in order to see significant effects. At Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists & Cape Fear Aesthetics MedSpa, we offer several cosmeceutical-grade products and treatments to deliver the anti-aging benefits you seek.

Our Aestheticans have helped patients from Fayetteville and the surrounding suburbs enjoy a positive, rewarding and comfortable MedSpa experience. If you’re ready to see the difference that our team can make in your life, please call 910-323-3757 and book your consultation.

Balloon Sinuplasty available in Fayetteville and Cary, NC

Do You Suffer From Sinus Problems?
Nasal Congestion | Facial Pressure | Headaches | Fatigue | Sore Throat | Allergies
Balloon Sinuplasty is a popular non-surgical medical procedure for patients who are suffering from repeated sinus infections. If your sinuses continually become blocked, leaving you suffering from constant symptoms and feeling uncomfortable, a balloon sinuplasty may be the treatment you need.

Benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty

Traditional procedures to open up the sinuses could be invasive for many patients, with a long recovery period from the painful procedure. This is no longer a worry with Balloon Sinuplasty, which involves little to no downtime.

Balloon Sinuplasty is very similar to the Angioplastyprocedure that is used on heart patients to open up clogged arteries. Like with an Angioplasty, a small apparatus is used to expand a tiny balloon to open the obstructed area.

Balloon Sinuplasty is a safe and very effective procedure. At Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists & Cape Fear Aesthetics MedSpa, we specialize in sinus issues and we have performed many Balloon Sinuplasty procedures on patients with great success. We can help you to determine if this procedure will clear up your sinus problems and, if so, you can have the procedure performed on an outpatient basis in our comfortable offices. The procedure should provide permanent relief from clogged sinuses.

You should not have to live with clogged sinuses and uncomfortable symptoms. Balloon Sinuplasty can help you “Breathe Easy” again. Call Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists & Cape Fear Aesthetics MedSpa today to schedule your appointment and to learn if Balloon Sinuplasty is the right medical treatment for you.

Visit for Dr. Edward Dickerson’s FAQs about Sinuplasty

Fayetteville Plastic Surgery Specialists, is a center of excellence providing non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures such as ThermiTight, ThermiVa, ThermiBreast, and ThermiDry. Dr. Edward Dickerson’s patients come from all over North Carolina and surrounding states to experience the services that he offers at Fayetteville Plastic Surgery. These procedures use radiofrequency, “the science of heat” to drastically enhance appearance in treated areas and greatly improve confidence without the pain and downtime of traditional surgery. Of these highly successful procedures, the newest are ThermiVa and ThermiBreast.

ThermiBreast is the first non-surgical alternative to a breast lift. It is also known as the Scarless Breast Lift and is done by heating the breast from within with tiny probes to produce tightening and lift. ThermiBreast is for those needing mild to moderate tightening.

ThermiVa is perfect for patients who have had children, are unhappy with changes that have occurred due to menopause, or are experiencing discomfort due to excess or sagging skin. Dr. Edward Dickerson’s ThermiVa patients have experienced tightening and shrinking of the skin internally and externally, enhanced lubrication, relationship enhancement, and an overall increase in confidence.

ThermiTight provides a minimally invasive correction to sagging necks, jowls, stomachs, arms, back fat, and cellulite. ThermiTight is a quick and effective procedure that delivers pinpoint targeted heat just under the skin to dissolve fat stores and tighten overlying skin.

ThermiDry is the answer to embarrassing excessive armpit sweating. ThermiDry has proven to provide relief from hyperhidrosis in a toxin-free minimally invasive treatment.

These procedures all use radiofrequency energy in different applications to achieve each patient’s desired results. The temperature is carefully monitored and is completely safe and has even been described as relaxing. Results develop immediately after treatment and gradually improve even more over time, with the greatest improvements typically visible at the three-month mark. Each of these procedures are quick “lunch hour” procedures that require little to no cutting, downtime, pain, or anesthesia and can be performed in Dr. Edward Dickerson’s Fayetteville, NC office.

Pregnancy is Beautiful….

But it also takes a toll on your body! Pregnancy affects the breasts, tummy, legs, and more. Nursing can also contribute to changes that may leave you longing for your pre-baby body. Whether baby recently arrived, or it’s been a while since you’ve delivered, you don’t have to trade motherhood for your beauty and confidence! You may want to start with a weight loss protocol, injectable fillers and wrinkle relaxers, minimally invasive treatments (or all of the above) to begin treating your concerns.

Hot Mommy Makeover

A Mommy Makeover addresses a woman’s post-pregnancy body issues by combining two or more of the following procedures:

Fun Fact: RealSelf users have given the Mommy Makeover a whopping 97% WORTH IT rating!

A Few Things to Consider…

We recommend letting the body heal for six months after delivery before surgery. Breast feeding needs to have stopped prior to surgery as well so that your doctor can get an idea of the true size and position of your breasts. If you are done having children, it is safe to go ahead with a Mommy Makeover.

Depending on the procedures chosen, a Mommy Makeover can often be completed in a single session. This can reduce the overall post-operative downtime.

Lip Injections are a fast-track enhancement option that can last up to or beyond 6 months. Popular with (primarily) women ages 18 – 80, a fuller lip compliments just about anyone’s look.

Unofficial lip filler poster child, celebrity Kylie Jenner, has made full lips a trend in recent years. Perhaps because of her example, or due to the notoriety of  “duck lips” and “trout pout” in the media,  those who are new to lip fillers fear that lip fillers will leave them looking too “done”. A good doctor or nurse injector will help you to see that lip rejuvenation is about restoring volume and careful accentuation of your natural lip contour. It’s all about aesthetic balance: Less is definitely more!

Some are born with naturally thin lips, but in others loss of lip volume is a natural result of aging. With age, lips deflate, the mouth thins out, and lines form above and below the lip line (ie. “smoker’s lines”). Luckily, regardless of the cause, lip fillers make lack of volume an issue that can be addressed relatively quickly and with next to no downtime.

Surgical options like fat transfer or lip implants are more invasive, but are also longer lasting (some patients “graduate” to surgical lip enhancement after experiencing great results with low-commitment fillers). The beauty of lip fillers is that they are generally hyaluronic acid (HA) based products like Belotero that integrate into tissue when introduced, are naturally absorbed over time, and actually even help to form new collagen!

Here are 11 things to know before getting lip injections:

1. HA fillers last about six months. How long your results last beyond this time frame depends. The more active the area is (smiling, eating, talking), the faster the formula is reabsorbed.

2. You will see the results almost immediately. Your lips will be a little swollen at first, but you’ll see the effects of the fillers pretty quickly. Give your lips at least 72 hours to settle and the swelling to calm. Then you’ll be seeing your filled-out lips as they will be for the next few months.

3. Lips with fillers don’t feel any different than real lips. Lip fillers may feel slightly “bumpy” at first, but within a week things generally settle and will feel natural again.

4. At the beginning of the procedure, your lips will be iced and injected with numbing medicine (if you choose) for your comfort. Afterward, the doctor will massage your lips a little, ice them for 10 minutes, and then let you go about your day.

5. There’s practically zero downtime. The procedure takes about 15 to 20 minutes total, and the numbing will start to wear off after about 15 minutes. You can go about your daily life afterward but shouldn’t make any big plans (like a wedding or an important event) for at least three days in case you bruise.

6. You shouldn’t exercise the day of the procedure. You especially should avoid activities that increase blood flow to your face, like getting a massage or a facial.

7. You can choose which areas of your lips you’d like the focus to be. Whether you want to do both lips, just the bottom lip, or the middle of the top lip, you can plump wherever you and your doctor decide will best complement the rest of your facial features.

8. About 2 weeks before your procedure, avoid painkillers (except Tylenol), fish oil, and Vitamin E, which tend to thin the blood. Thinner blood will make the area more prone to bruising and bleeding.

9. Some slight bruising and bleeding at the site of injection is normal. The bruises should fade after five to seven days. Topical Arnica gel may be applied to further reduce the chance of bruising.

10. Expect natural-looking results. Your doctor will ultimately decide what look is best for your face. If you are looking for more pronounced results, understand that the size can increased gradually over time for the best results.

11. If you eventually decide to stop getting injections, your lips will return to their original state. However, the HA that was injected into your lips may trigger collagen and natural HA production at the injection site, which could result in lips naturally retaining some volume due to the previous injections.
