If you have suffered from nasal fracture, and are dealing with nasal deformity you are familiar with the symptoms it brings. At Cape Fear Aesthetics you can be treated in various ways. What is Nasal Deformity?

Nasal deformity is characterized as an abnormality in the appearance and the structure of the nose. This abnormality can result in difficulty breathing, impaired sense of smell and lowering of self esteem. Patients with nasal deformity may also be prone to nosebleeds, snoring, dry mouth, noisy breathing and sinus infections.

How can Nasal Deformity and Nasal Fractures be treated?

There are different ways to treat nasal deformity and fractures, for example rhinoplasty, septoplasty or nasal fracture repair. With rhinoplasty you are looking at enhancing the appearance or Reconstruction of the nose. Septoplasty treats nasal blockage, and deviated septums which is a displacement of the wall between the nostrils. Nasal fracture repair consists of repairing fractures within the nose and putting it back in place.

What is the healing process following these procedures?

The swelling, and if there is any bruising will begin to improve around day 3 post-procedure. Patients tend to be “public ready” around 1-2 weeks. The results are most often stable, the wounds in/on the nose heal fairly quick and improvement in breathing begins shortly after surgery. The overall healing process is generally slower as nasal tissue and cartilage can take 3-6 months to fully settle.
