What is Recovery Like After a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels work by causing the skin to dry up and peel off, resulting in the growth of healthy skin underneath. This means that there is a brief period after your treatment where you can expect the skin to be dry, flaky, and somewhat sensitive. This period lasts about one week after your chemical peel. During this time, it is important to avoid excessive sun exposure because the skin will be highly sensitive to sunlight. However, these symptoms should not affect your ability to work and perform other normal activities, so you can expect to resume those activities within a day or two of treatment.
When Will I Notice Results from My Chemical Peel?
After the damaged skin peels off, you will begin to notice results from your chemical peel. As the healthy skin underneath becomes visible, you will notice a smoother feel, a clearer complexion, and a more radiant skin tone. This will help address most cosmetic concerns, and patients can enjoy the rejuvenating results of their chemical peel for up to two months after treatment.
